What is BPH?

BPH or Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia is a long word for an enlarged prostate. Most men have a prostate gland around the size of a walnut, but the prostate may grow throughout a mans life to the size of an orange.

What is a prostate?

The prostate is a small gland that produces hormones and secretions to nourish the sperm and assist with male fertility.

What does an enlarged prostate do?

For some men, enlarged prostates seem to cause nothing but trouble. It can grow into the urethra (or pee channel) like tree roots into a pipe. This can cause difficulty for some patients to empty their bladder.

What symptoms might I see?

Difficulty Urinating, slow urine stream, dribbling at the end of your urine stream may be signs of an enlarged prostate.
